Requesting Application Change
Submitted applications awaiting a decision are limited to a one-time change request for the program, level, campus, and/or term options. This one-time change request may include multiple changes (program, level, campus, and term). Admitted applicants are limited to a one-time change request for the program, level, campus, and/or term options. This one-time change request may include multiple changes (program, level, campus, and term) and must be submitted to the admitting graduate program for approval. The admitting program will notify the Office of Graduate Education if the change request is approved. If an admitted student is requesting a change to the semester of matriculation (deferral), the admitted student must first consult with the admitting graduate program to determine if the program will admit students for the new semester. Deferral requests must be submitted by the admitted student to the admitting graduate program prior to the start of the original semester of matriculation and must be for a term no more than three semesters from the original semester of matriculation. Please note that a program change requests must be for another program within the same school unit. Applicants who are denied admission are not eligible for a change request and must submit a new application with the required application fee to be considered for admission to a new program, level, campus, and/or term option; the application fee is non-transferrable.
If an applicant does not request a deferral before the original semester of matriculation starts, they must submit a new application and application fee for the future semester.
If an application has previously been approved for a change changed, the applicant may request an additional change if the applicant is on active duty in the military, experiencing immigration delays, or has a medical emergency. Otherwise, the applicant will be required to submit a new application and pay the application fee if the applicant wants to be considered for admission.
